Claife Heights

Ask in store for map and route information.

This is another National Trust owned site, and is directly across the lake from our Bowness boathouse, easily reached by bike almost as soon as you are off the ferry.

Why choose to visit here?

It marks the starting point of the western shore cycle trail, and is a great place to visit on the return from Wray Castle, for refreshments in their foodie friendly cafe, and a climb to the viewing station if you have time.

Suitable for?

Suitability will depend on how you decide to access Claife Heights. There are multiple MTB routes, including the one shown above, which pass over the top of Claife Heights. These are only really suitable for experienced MTBers.

However, it is possible to ride along the western shore cycle path, lock up your bikes and walk to the viewpoint at Claife Heights if you fancy a little addition to your day. This would be suitable for families, as long as children are able to complete the walk.
